LIONEL MESSI is adapting to life in the US by taking the family to the supermarket on Monday in Miami.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has signed a £47m-a-year deal with David Beckham’s MLS franchise, Inter Miami, and will be officially announced in the coming days.
🐐, Messi at Your Local Publix in Florida Messi and his family traveled from Paris to Miami – and seem to have made the most of his relative anonymity across the ocean.
The Barcelona icon, 36, was spotted at a Publix supermarket grocery shopping with his wife Antonella and sons Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro.
Messi’s family were all smiles as they strolled through the relatively relaxed aisles, stopping only to snap selfies with a few stunnҽd fans who recognized him.
And the superstar’s family seems to have a taste for American sugary snacks. Sharp-eyed fans have spotted two giant boxes of Lucky Charms and Fruit Loops in his stroller.
One said: “Today I learned that Messi went grocery shopping by himself.”
Another added: “Imagine you’re walking past the grocery store to buy some celebrity roast chicken and Messi is there picking up a cart of sugary cereal for his kids.”
A third wrote: “Lucky charms!?!?! MY MAN KNOWS WHAT’S GOOD.” While another joked: “Lionel Messi is the king of cereals”.
The Argentinian’s move to Miami will likely be the last of his iconic career.
And the World Cup winner recently admitted the international portion of his career will soon be over.
“Honestly, I don’t know when,” he said. I think it will happen when it has to.
“After achieving everything recently, the only thing left to do is enjoy. God will tell when that moment will come.
“Logically, because of my age, I’m sure it will soon.
“But I don’t know exactly when it will be the right time.
“I think about each day, enjoying everything beautiful.
“We went through very difficult times in the national team.
“We’re lucky enough to be World Cup and Copa America champions. It’s time to enjoy.”
Messi has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter, which will pocket a whopping £47m a year.
He is scheduled to make his debut in the Inter’s Leagues Cup match against Liga MX’s Cruz Azul on July 21.
And Boss Jorge Mas believes Messi’s arrival in the MLS will change the landscape of the Beautiful Game in America forever.
He told The Miami Herald: “I think there will always be Messi before and after Messi when we talk about sports in the United States.
“I have a very, very strong belief that we can create in North America and the United States.
