Billionaire lifestyle: Neymar million-dollar NFT investment proves him as a smart ‘player’
Along with teammates Verratti and Paredes, the Brazilian star of Paris Saint-Germain purchased two pieces from the Bored Ape Yacht Club line.
It is not necessary to be a specialist in Titian, Constable, or Monet to be aware of the changes occurring in the art world. We are witnessing some of the biggest corporations in the world, including Meta and Twitter, as well as a number of celebrities, invest in these crypto assets since digital works are being traded for billions of dollars each year.
NFTs attract athletes
NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, moved roughly $40 billion in total just last year, and some well-known football players are also getting involved. Both Neymar Jr. of Paris Saint-Germain and Luka Modric of Real Madrid have amassed impressive collections of NFTs. Neymar Jr. spent nearly a million euros on two intriguing pieces.
The Brazilian gamer was able to purchase two items from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection thanks to OpenSea, the main marketplace for this kind of token. The gamer used the Ethereum cryptocurrency to pay 159.99 ETH for one of the illustrations and 189.69 ETH for the other, which works out to around $521,000 and $624,000, respectively, in US dollars for each.
The transaction was completed using his personalized wallet from the website, which features his initials and the name “EneJay.” Most shockingly, he later acknowledged on his Instagram page that he had completed the purchase with two friends. Two of his PSG teammates, Leandro Paredes and Marco Verratti, are rumored to have chipped in as well, but none has opted to post any images to social media like Neymar has.
Collection from the prestigious Bored Ape Yacht Club
The works that make up the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection are highly regarded by fans of digital art, but prominent people from all around the world have also taken note of them. On that list are NBA three-point expert Stephen Curry, popular TV presenter Jimmy Fallon, and rapper Eminem.
It should be mentioned that Neymar also signed a contract with the company NFTSTAR in November of last year to produce, promote, and distribute collectible NFTs.
