As negotiations for Inter Milan star Andre Onana continue, Manchester United has not ruled out keeping Dean Henderson as its first-choice goalkeeper, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils began talks with the Nerazzurri about Onana two weeks ago, but they have not yet agreed on a transfer fee. Although Inter now values him at £51 million, United is hesitant to spend more than £43 million.
According to the Daily Mail, Henderson might start for United during the upcoming Premier League season due to the £8 million price discrepancy.
The 26-year-old is reportedly wanted by Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis, but for the time being, manager Erik ten Hag has postponed the transfer.
United should sort out fee for Onana
Mason Mount’s transfer to the Red Devils recently involved a protracted round of talks with Chelsea.
The Blues were eventually persuaded to sell him for £55 million plus £5 million in challenging add-ons. Only if Mount receives multiple trophies will the perks be activated. He must have a significant role in the majority of those games.
In our opinion, United has to refine their Onana plan in the near future. They might need to incorporate simple add-ons, unlike Mount, given that the Nerazzurri require money for their own transfer business.
Yann Sommer of Bayern and Anatoliy Trubin of Shakhtar are two players the team intends to acquire following Onana’s sale. With the money they have received, they are also willing to raise their ongoing offer for Romelu Lukaku.
Therefore, we don’t see a chance of Onana’s agreement failing. The talks between the teams might go on longer, but the Red Devils should eventually come to an agreement for the Cameroonian.
David de Gea, who recently left as a free agent after 12 seasons, is being replaced, and Onana is Ten Hag’s primary target.
