Young midfielder Tyler Morton has been called up by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to train with the first team during preseason.
As he prepares for the upcoming season, Morton shared a photo of himself with the manager on Instagram.
In order to guide Liverpool back into the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp will have a momentous season at Anfield.
Although results dramatically improved at the end of the season, missing out on the top four the previous year was a big disappointment.
To address some of the issues from the prior season, Liverpool has already made a few moves in the transfer market.
From Brighton, Alexis Mac Allister has come and should fit in well in midfield.
Dominik Szoboszlai, the captain of Hungary, is a tremendously talented player who can play in a number of attacking roles or as a central playmaker.
Tyler Morton is one player who might be a little worried about the number of midfielders being hired.
The 20-year-old spent last season out on loan with Blackburn Rovers and had a very strong campaign.
Klopp has now called Morton up to first-team training and will have to quickly decide his plans for the youngster ahead of next season.
Morton posted a picture of himself with Klopp on his Instagram story alongside the caption, “Back to it.”
Klopp has made it clear he’s a big fan of the young midfielder.
Morton has already played in the Champions League for Liverpool and after their 2-0 win against AC Milan in 2021, Klopp said: “I don’t want to make his life any more complicated than it is
already, playing at such a young age for a club like Liverpool in a game like this with a performance like this.
“I think we should all calm down but it was really good tonight and a big pleasure to watch the boy playing.
“The football brain he showed tonight was absolutely exceptional.”
Despite the call-up to first-team training, it’s hard to see where Morton fits into Klopp’s plans this season.
He must work to secure playing time for Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Stefan Bajcetic in addition to the senior players he has at his disposal.
Even though it would make sense to find Morton another loan move, he must eventually find a team that will regularly start him.
It is uncertain whether Liverpool will serve as the site.
