Goncalo Inacio has been highlighted as a target by Liverpool in their summer defensive department improvement effort.
According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea, who is also trying to add a central defender, will compete with Liverpool.
The 21-year-old was a vital member of Sporting CP’s team last season, and the two Premier League clubs would be wise to sign him long-term.
The defender’s contract apparently contains a €45 million release clause, so it’s unclear if Sporting CP will be open to negotiating a fair price for him this summer.
The Portuguese team may demand that the release clause be fully paid because he is an important player for them.
Alexis Mac Allister has already signed on with Liverpool, and they will soon confirm Dominik Szoboszlai’s arrival. It is obvious that they have significantly improved the midfield, and they may now aim to replace players like Joe Gomez and Joel Matip with more advanced options. Last season, both guys were somewhat unimpressive.
A top-notch defender like Inacio would make Liverpool much better. The 21-year-old is capable of playing both full-back and central defense. The Premier League team will benefit from his versatility.
Arsenal versus Sporting inacio
Chelsea let go of Kalidou Koulibaly in the meanwhile, and they might try to strengthen their defense by bringing in the 21-year-old.
Having said that, they will welcome back Levi Colwill from Brighton and Hove Albion. Players like Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are already at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal. It will be fascinating to see if the Blues are willing to invest a significant sum of money on a new defender, especially given that they also need to strengthen the rest of their squad.
