Mbappé talks about his future for the first time

After earning the prize for the greatest French player of the 2022–23 season, the French footballer spoke with L’Equipe and France Football.

Mbappé gave an interview to these two media outlets (prior to all the controversy erupting) after receiving the award for the best French player of the 2022–2023 season from L’Equipe and France Football in which he analyzed his season, explained his feelings, and demonstrated his ambition to always win.

Are there any reasons to think that this will be his final season in Ligue 1? It’s really straightforward; I play to win because I’m a competitor. And no matter where I play, who I play with, what I’m wearing, what year it is, or who I play with, I’m never happy when I win. I take a vacation, reset, regain energy, and return with the well-known hunger.

“I never give up, I only want to succeed, and I never get satisfied.”

“I am never impressed by what I do because I am never satisfied. The fact that I constantly convince myself that I can do something better the next time is already a first step towards understanding who I am. I’m so driven to succeed that I don’t want to join a team only for participation. I often get the impression that I’m cocky because of this, he remarked in “L’Equipe,” adding, “I’m not afraid of failure either; it’s a part of a footballer’s career. However, I firmly believe that I was born to win, and I want to prove it to everyone.

It’s not a question for me to know what PSG needs to do to win the Champions League, Mbappé said.

I don’t know what PSG is missing to win the Champions League, it’s not a question for me. He made this remark in reference to his present team, PSG, and the ambition, still unmet, to win the competition. [.. .] You need to communicate with the individuals who comprise the team, manage the squad, and create this club. All I can do is try to do my job as well as I can. […] For the sixth year in a row, I was the greatest player and top scorer in Ligue 1.

I gave excellent performances, but I feel like I could have done even better. – Mbappé

Goals and titles”I’m proud of a lot of things. First, we play for titles, which we have continued to win. It doesn’t matter what the title is because everyone fights because it’s the hardest game. “I had outstanding moments and outstanding performances, although I think I could still do better,” he continues. “And, of course, I’m delighted to have maintained my level personally, with a season around fifty goals.”

Ballon’ Dor Mbappé believes that competing in Ligue 1, a league that may not be as popular as the Premier League or La Liga, may not benefit him in the Ballon d’Or voting process, but he still aspires to win it one day.

“Are my performances trivialized by others? Yes, but I also don’t hold them responsible. People in France have seen me develop; they frequently see me with the national team or at PSG on the weekends. And I’ve been scoring a lot of goals for years. Therefore, it is becoming commonplace for people. I’ve never complained that people are making fun of my performances.

“I, personally, devalued what Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and other great players did.” – Mbappé

“I don’t think playing for PSG helps much because it’s a divided team,” – Mbappé

“I’m young and had the good fortune to first watch before becoming an actor. And I, too, devalued what great players like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and others did. The consumption society in which we live places a strong emphasis on “that’s good, but do it again.” And the fact that I’m in Paris right here next door… Being a member of PSG, a club that divides, does not, in my opinion, do anything to help. Naturally, that encourages rumors, but I don’t care because I know what I’m doing and how to accomplish it.
