Hundreds of Al Ahli supporters queued to hug, kiss, and photograph the Brazilian youngster.
Roberto Firmino traveled to Saudi Arabia yesterday (July 7) to join the new team. Hundreds of supporters gathered at the airport to greet Al Ahli’s new star. Saudi fans covered their shoulders, hugged, and even kissed the former Liverpool striker. Firmino also made nice gestures in response.
The Brazilian attacker also had his first training session on 7/7. He will wear the number 10 shirt at Al Ahli.

Firmino is in Saudi Arabia on a free transfer. His deal with the newly promoted Saudi Pro League club runs until June 2026. Firmino is Al Ahli’s second summer transfer blockbuster, following Edouard Mendy, who was named FIFA’s best goalkeeper in 2021.
“I only play for big clubs, and that’s why I chose Al Ahli,” “Bobby” Firmino said on his debut.
Firmino’s contract at Liverpool expires at the end of the 2022/23 season. At the age of 31, the Brazilian football’s spearhead is still receiving numerous offers from prominent European clubs. Real Madrid and Dortmund are interested in signing Firmino on a free transfer.
The allure of Al Ahli, on the other hand, made the 2019 Champions League champion unable to reject. Firmino was promised a weekly wage of up to £400,000 at his new club, more than double his previous pay of $180,000 at Liverpool.
After winning the Saudi first division, Al Ahli will be a rookie in the SPL next season. This club was founded in 1937 and is owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns a significant share in Newcastle United.
Al Ahli previously won the SPL in 2015/16 but was demoted two years later. After being promoted to the SPL, this team has yet to appoint a new coach. Al Ahli has been connected to both Jose Mourinho and Max Allegri, although both have dismissed the allegations.
