Roberto Firmino’s Surprising Journey After Departing Liverpool for Al-Ahli

Numerous Al Ahli supporters lined up to embrace, kiss, and take pictures with the Brazilian youngster.

Roberto Firmino traveled to Saudi Arabia yesterday (7 July) to join the new team. At the airport, a large crowd of supporters awaited the arrival of the new Al Ahli star. The former Liverpool striker was hugged, kissed, and had his shoulders wrapped by Saudi supporters. Additionally, Firmino gave a warm greeting in return. The Brazilian striker participated in his first training session on 7/7 as well. He will put on the shirt with the number 10 at Al Ahli.

Firmino travels unpaid to Saudi Arabia. His Saudi Pro League contract with the team that was just promoted runs through June 2026. Firmino is Al Ahli’s second high-profile acquisition this summer, following Edouard Mendy, who FIFA named as the best goalkeeper in the world for 2021.

Bobby Firmino remarked on his debut, “I only play for major clubs and that’s why I selected Al Ahli.

With Liverpool, Firmino’s contract expires at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season. The leader of Brazilian football, who is 31 years old, is still inundated with proposals from the best European teams. The teams that are interested in signing Firmino on a free transfer are Real Madrid or Dortmund.

But the 2019 Champions League champion was powerless to resist Al Ahli’s charm. Firmino received a pay offer of up to £400,000 per week at the new club, more than double the $180,000 per week he made at Liverpool previously.

Al Ahli, who won Saudi Arabia’s top division, will be a debutant in the SPL the following year. The Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns a sizeable portion of Newcastle United, founded this team in 1937 and is the sole shareholder.

Al Ahli previously won the SPL during the 2015–16 season but was demoted two years later. After being promoted to the SPL, this team has not yet chosen a new head coach. Jose Mourinho and Max Allegri have both denied having any relationship with Al Ahli, despite the rumors.
