After a good time at Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus strongly stood up to talk about his decision to leave Manchester City to join Arsenal.
“It was a match against PSG in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola decided to let Oleksandr Zinchenko play in the false 9 position. This is too crɑzy,” Gabriel Jesus said.
According to the Brazilian striker, the day before the match, Pep did not even let Zinchenko train for this, while Jesus was still preparing as usual. Zinchenko even admitted feeling sorry for his teammates born in 1997.
“Two hours before kick-off, there was a team meeting. The whole team rested and ate for 30 minutes. I was so upset, I couldn’t eat. I called my mom, in tears, wanting to leave. Evolving under Pep was hard. That’s when I decided I didn’t want to stay,” Jesus shared.
“I left home because Pep let a defender take the place that should have belonged to me. An odd decision. It was crɑzy. The day before, Guardiola didn’t even use Zinchenko in training, but put me in for money. Even Zinchenko said he felt bad for me
“I felt bad. After Mbappe opened the scoring, Guardiola called me. I came on, assisted and scored, helping Man City win (2-1). In the next game against RB Leipzig, I think I will play but no. It’s not easy, and that’s when I decided to leave,” emphasized the Arsenal star.
Jesus was instantly sold by Man City to Arsenal for 52m euros following the 2021/22 season. He was a major influence in the London team’s long-awaited return to the Champions League by assisting to score 18 goals (11 goals, 8 assists).
Pep soon added Erling Haaland after letting go of Jesus. The Norwegian striker quickly rose to the occasion, scoring 51 goals to return with a record treble for the home team at Etihad Stadium.
