Erling Haaland is revealed to have given important advice to Dominik Szobozszlai who decided to join Liverpool, playing in the Premier League next.
The Hungarian international becomes Liverpool’s second signing in the summer transfer window, after Mac Allister, and will wear the famous number 8 shirt that once belonged to legend Steven Gerrard.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have activated Szoboszlai’s €70 million release clause with Leipzig to sign the midfielder to a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old star is another key addition to Liverpool’s squad next season. Captain Klopp expressed his joy when the deal was soon completed:
“I am very grateful to everyone in the club who contributed to making this work possible. This is a contract for the present and the future of Liverpool.”
Szoboszlai himself, while sharing his feelings about joining Liverpool, reveɑled that it was Man City star Erling Haaland, friend and former teammate in Salzburg, who advised him to come play in the Premier League.
“Me and Haaland talked a lot. He also enthusiastically advises on finding a house and we will most likely become neighbors.
Haaland told me some players live between Manchester and Liverpool in a quiet area where privacy is guaranteed.
Excited to be enthusiastically helped by an old friend, but Szoboszlai also said right away, when Liverpool played Man City, that friendship would surely be put aside:
“Of course, our friendship will be put aside in the Liverpool vs Man City game. It will be a very cool experience when we are rivals.
Szoboszlai will become the third Hungarian player to play for Liverpool, after goalkeepers Adam Bogdan and Istavan Kozma.
