According to CBS Sports, Manchester United could push Scott McTominay to bring in another midfielder this summer.
The Red Devils are gradually changing midfield after the 2022/23 season. Marcel Sabitzer is no longer attached to the team. Meanwhile, Man Utd also plans to sell off Scott McTominay. That’s why coach Erik ten Hag wanted Mason Mount and they were close to signing the Chelsea star.
Initially, Man United intended to turn to another target if the deal stalemate. In fɑct, 3 offers of Man Utd were rejected. Therefore, Man Utd is ready to negotiate the signing of Moises Caicedo, who is expected to leave Brighton this summer.
However, after having Mount, Man Utd still has the opportunity to recruit Caicedo even though Chelsea is promoting this deal. According to CBS Sports, Seagulls want McTominay’s services this summer.
The source confirmed that Man Utd can assign McTominay and negotiate to recruit Caicedo. The Red Devils value Caicedo at £ 50 million or more if adding McTominay, while Brighton accepts to let Caicedo leave for £ 80m.
Man Utd can use McTominay to exchange Caicedo.
United’s budget doesn’t allow them to sign Caicedo but using McTominay in an exchange or direct sale to Brighton could help them bring in another quality midfielder.
