Dominik Szoboszlai, the newest addition to Liverpool from RB Leipzig, has been given his team’s squad number.
Szoboszlai, who followed Alexis Mac Allister through the door after his arrival from Brighton last month, became Jurgen Klopp’s second acquisition of the summer.
Prior to the deadline of June 30, Liverpool triggered the midfielder’s release clause, and they now have him in a deal estimated to be for £60 million.
Now that his contract has been made official, the Hungarian will take Naby Keita’s No. 8 jersey this summer.

After Keita left the team after five seasons at Anfield and 129 appearances, Szoboszlai was given the opportunity to take the jersey.
The 22-year-old, who signed a five-year contract with the Reds, also continues in the legendary former captain of Liverpool Steven Gerrard’s footsteps by donning the No. 8 jersey.
Following Wednesday’s report by David Ornstein of The Athletic that negotiations had taken place between the player and the club, Liverpool moved quickly to complete the transaction.
Szoboszlai doesn’t seem deterred by the Reds’ lack of Champions League competition in 2023–24, and supporters will be hoping he can bring a sizable goal threat from the middle of the park.
Harvey Elliott was Liverpool’s top-scoring midfielder with five goals during the same span, whereas Szoboszlai scored 10 goals and contributed 13 assists for RB Leipzig previous season.
We can only hope that his new squad number brings the team and him a lot of success in the upcoming seasons!
Liverpool have unveiled their away kit for the upcoming season, which is inspired by the legendary white and green strip worn by Robbie Fowler during the 1995/96 season.
Liverpool have gone vintage with their away kit for next season, drawing influence from the 1995/96 campaign.
During their time as ‘The Spice Boys,’ the Reds had a bright white and green away uniform, which will be reinstated when the season begins in August. A video shared on the club’s Twitter showed celebs of all ages embracing the look.
Jurgen Klopp, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Harvey Elliott are also prominent. The quarter pattern is green and white, with a black collar and cuff. Black shorts, a black name and number, and white socks with a black and green accent complete the look. The club also released a jacket in the same style.
Robbie Fowler, an Anfield legend who scored 36 goals in all competitions while wearing the kit 27 years ago, appears in the video. “I have fond memories of the 1995-96 season because of the iconic white and green away strip and for scoring my most goals in one season,” he said on the club’s website. “I love the new fresh take on the white and green away kit.”

In 1996, Liverpool donned the kit in the FA Cup final against Manchester United at the old Wembley Stadium. It was a close call when Eric Cantona scored the winner, but the white outfits worn by the players before the game became famous.
On the first weekend of the season, Klopp’s team travels to Chelsea, and their second away game is at Newcastle. Neither opposition is expected to force Liverpool to wear their traditional red jersey, so the first time we see it might be several weeks into the season.
Fans attending the club’s pre-season trip to Asia will be able to see it in action when it debuts against Championship outfit Leicester at Singapore’s National Stadium on July 30.
Several new arrivals might be wearing the jersey before then, with Alexis MacAllister already on his way to Anfield. The former Brighton midfielder departed the Amex after several impressive years and will enhance Liverpool’s midfield ranks as they attempt to rebound from a disappointing season.
More new faces are expected, with Klopp’s team linked with additional midfielders after a slew of contracts expired. As Liverpool looks to invest and revitalize their midfield options, Khéphren Thuram and Nicolo Barella are rumored to be on the shortlist.
