Recently, Liverpool confirmed the successful recruitment of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
“We have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and are waiting for a work permit to be approved. Szoboszlai is the team’s second new recruit this summer, after Alexis Mac Allister,” a statement from the club said. Liverpool’s homepage has a paragraph.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool accepted to spend 70 million euros to activate the Hungarian midfielder’s contract release clause with RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old said: “Liverpool is a historic club with many good players and great managers. For me, it’s perfect to take the next step in my career at such a big club. Everything really impressive.”
Szoboszlai is a product of the RB Salzburg youth academy. In January 2021, Szoboszlai joined RB Leipzig. He scored 20 goals and provided 22 assists in 91 games. Szoboszlai helped the Bundesliga representative win 2 consecutive National Cups in 2022 and 2023.
At the age of 22, the midfielder is already the captain of the Hungarian national team. Szoboszlai is quite versatile and has been compared to Toni Kroos. This midfielder can play well in the No. 8, No. 10 position, even ready to take on the role of a striker when needed.
Mac Allister and Szoboszlai promise to help upgrade Liverpool’s midfield. After the 2022/23 season, the Anfield team parted ways with James Milner, Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain, so they needed a replacement.
