Romeo Lavia is expected to sign with Liverpool, but the club may demand up to £50 million to acquire him.
However, The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell told Empire of the Kop in an exclusive interview that he might cost the Reds around £50 million. According to him, Liverpool is the most likely destination for Lavia.
His value to Southampton is high. The price for Lavia needs to be between £45 million and £50 million. That depends on how many other targets each candidate gets.
Either Liverpool or Chelsea. With Jurgen Klopp as manager and all the research Liverpool has done on him, the Reds seem like the most likely landing spot.
It’s possible that £50 million is too much to pay for Lavia, a player who just turned 19 and has no significant international experience. Despite his undeniable talent, a transfer fee of this magnitude would seem to warrant a player of greater starting caliber than Lavia, who would have to fight for a spot in Liverpool’s starting eleven.
Whether or whether Liverpool can afford Lavia will likely rely on the club’s general transfer plan and the signing of other targets. That is, unless Liverpool is prepared to spend a disproportionate amount of their resources on the promising young midfielder.
According to Tanswell, though, Liverpool is quite interested in Lavia after Jurgen Klopp and the club’s scouting squad apparently researched him. This indicates that Liverpool thinks highly of Lavia and considers him a potential asset to the team.
Tanswell believes that Liverpool is the most likely destination for Lavia, while other teams like Chelsea may also be interested in signing him; if this is the case, we should be able to negotiate a more favorable contract with him.
The fact that Klopp is widely regarded as a top-tier manager and that Liverpool has a proven record of developing young talents may be pivotal in getting Lavia to sign with Anfield. Lavia might have a major impact in the coming seasons for the Reds if they sign him, but £50 million is too much for such a young player.
