Barcelona and Samuel Umtiti have reached an agreement that will allow France international to be released from his contract with the Spanish club much earlier than the original deadline of 2026.

The defender spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Serie A side Lecce, where he made 25 appearances.

Umtiti signed for Barcelona in 2016 in a €25 million move from Lyon and he would go on to become a two-time La Liga champion and three-time Copa del Rey champion.

The 29-year-old also won the 2018 World Cup, playing in the final for France as they beat Croatia 4-2.
