CONFIRM: Arsenal is about to welcome ‘super rookie’ Declan Rice on Monday after ‘most important trouble’ resolved

WEST HAM hope to agree payment terms with Arsenal for the £105m transfer of Declan Rice by Monday.

The Gunners have agreed a deal in principle to sign England star Rice, 24, for a record fee between two British clubs – £100m plus £5m add-ons.

Despite also agreeing on personal terms, negotiations have continued regarding the payment structure of the upfront £100m sum.

Hammers chiefs want it all by the start of 2025 – whereas Arsenal would prefer financially to stagger a section of it across a longer period.

SunSport now understands that sources close to the deal expect those negotiations to conclude by the start of next week.

These minor payment issues have never been seen as derailing, but West Ham have been digging their heels in to get the deal they want.

The Europa Conference League champions are still waiting for answers on how the £105m will flow into their bank accounts.

However, Arsenal almost had Rice because the most important things were closed. The remaining issue is the time when the Gunners need to compromise with West Ham on the payment structure for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Both Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Rice are desperate to get this over the line as quickly as possible, with a medical ready to be arranged as soon as they get the green light.

Following his Three Lions performances against Malta and North Macedonia, Rice is currently on vacation and wasn’t scheduled to return to West Ham for another two weeks.

Prior to Arsenal’s preseason tour to the United States, which includes their debut match on July 20 against the MLS All-Stars, Arteta wants Rice to be fully assimilated at the club.

Arsenal submitted their third offer for Rice on Tuesday night, having previously had two offers rejected, including a then club-record £75m plus £15m in add-ons.

Rivals On Monday night, Manchester City also had a bid of £80 million + £10 million, but on Tuesday morning, they unexpectedly decided not to pursue it.

City was reluctant to pay more than their own assessment of the player and the £100 million they paid for Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in August 2021.

Kai Havertz’s £65 million transfer from Chelsea has already been announced, and a £40 million deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is also almost complete.
