After the Reds contacted Dominik Szoboszlai’s representatives about a prospective transfer, Szoboszlai expressed interest in moving to Liverpool this summer.
This is consistent with a report from 90min that RB Leipzig won’t release him for less than the £60.5 million transfer cost required to trigger his release clause.
Following the arrival of Alexis MacAllister, 90min claims that Liverpool is now concentrating on Dominik Szoboszlai as they want to add two more midfielders to their squad.
The team led by Jurgen Klopp has declared interest in the Hungarian international. According to 90min, they have spoken to his aides. And it’s been said that he’d like to transfer to Anfield as well.
There is obviously a lot of work to be done. RB Leipzig don’t seem willing to make any price concessions. Given that he just experienced a season in which he notched 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions, it comes as no surprise.
But at 22 years of age, Szoboszlai should only get better in the years to come. So he could certainly prove to be very good value for money if a team is prepared to trigger his release clause.
Much may depend on how much money Liverpool have to spend on their other targets. Unfortunately, last year proved to be a disappointment for Klopp’s side. And they have several areas to strengthen before the season starts.
But Szoboszlai is an ‘exceptional‘ talent. So it would be a really exciting bit of business if Liverpool could now make a move for the youngster in this window.
