UPDATE: Liverpool closely recruited ‘Speed Machine’ Jeremy Doku if willing to spend £66m

The news comes after Liverpool was once again linked with the 21-year-old player, and it suggests that Stade Rennais is willing to move Jeremy Doku this summer.

When a compelling offer for Doku comes in, the Ligue 1 team will reportedly consider selling the Belgian international, according to L’Equipe. Rennes is reportedly unimpressed with the winger’s three-year total of 16 goals.

Jeunes Footeux reported last year that the youngster could cost as much as £66m should a club make an attempt to sign Doku. However, there’s every chance that an interested party like Liverpool will now be expected to pay a much lower fee.

As per L’Equipe, Liverpool have been interested in Doku as far back as 2017 during his time as a youth player with R.S.C. Anderlecht. And this summer could now be the window that the Anfield side finally land their man, who had been tipped to replace Sadio Mane in recent years.

Indeed, although attack might not be a problem area for Liverpool this summer, Jurgen Klopp finally securing Doku’s signature could be a tantalising prospect, and the Reds could soon launch an official bid to sign the Rennes forward if the French side are now open to a sale.

Liverpool have to be certain they want Doku before preparing transfer offer

As previously noted, Liverpool’s forward line scarcely needs any upgrades this summer as the Reds are already packed in the attack even with Roberto Firmino gone. Therefore, Klopp and his group must carefully examine any Doku move before making it.

Without a doubt, the brilliant Belgian international will eventually prove to be an interesting Mohamed Salah successor. However, for this window, Liverpool might feel more at ease concentrating on the team’s needs rather than making a move for Doku, a long-term objective.
