PROTESTING Manchester United fans have hijacked the club’s new kit announcement as protesters blocked the club’s store.
The takeover of the club still looks no nearer to being completed which is having a huge impact on Erik ten Hag’s summer transfer plans.
Man Utd’s new kit announcement has been hijacked by angry fans
A heavy police and security presence were waiting for protesters earlier
That did not stop a large group from gathering and blocking the entrance
Furious fans are demanding that the Glazers sell the club as they urged others not to buy the kit
Angry fans are now protesting today against the current owners, the Glazer family, and blocked the entrance to the megastore.
They were told to meet outside at 9:30am with a heavy police and security presence waiting for them this morning.
But that did not deter them as they unfurled a number of banners and sang “We want the Glazers out”, which forced the club shop to temporarily close for around “two minutes”, according to a source.
On social media earlier, United unveiled their brand-new traditional crimson-red jersey, which has a pattern of Lancashire flowers.
In addition, TeamViewer continued to appear to be the shirt sponsor despite the German tech business and the Red Devils canceling their agreement in December.
Man United and TeamViewer have agreed that after finding a new partner, the club may purchase the rights to their jersey sponsorship back.
Fans who want to wear the same clothing as stars Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, and Lisandro Martinez must spend £120 for their matchday version and £80 for a replica.
However, enraged backers have used Twitter to caution others against buying it.
One wrote: “Any Man United fan buying this before the takeover is complete is a Glazer!”
Another tweeted: “As long as the Glazers are in charge, not gonna buy anything from you guys! #GlazersOut.”
A fellow fan commented: “GLAZERS OUT we are not buying anything.”
As another added: “Nice shirt, all the same though as I won’t be buying anything as long as the Glazers are there!!”
The Glazers put United up for sale in November, slapping on a £6billion price-tag in the process.
But despite establishing a deadline for March, a new owner has not yet been found for Old Trafford.
The only two remaining bidders are Sheikh Jassim of Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe of the United Kingdom.
Both men place a $5 billion value on United and are willing to support Ten Hag in the market.
They are, however, making quite different kinds of offers, with Ratcliffe willing to keep the Glazers involved and Sheikh Jassim seeking a thorough takeover.
While the latter hasn’t shied away from it, Sheikh Jassim has kept his negotiations private.
According to reports from Qatar, a revised £5.5 billion offer is reportedly poised to seal the takeover in his favor.
