CONFIRM: Arsenal bid farewell to more than 10 players for Declan Rice

Arsenal let 10 players leave the Emirates Stadium after winning second place in the 2022/23 Premier League final.

Many players leave Arsenal after the 2022/23 season.

Arsenal decided not to keep 10 players whose contracts expire in June including Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Zach Awe, Joel Ideho, George Lewis, Matt Smith, Tom Smith, Kaleel Green, Alexander Kovacevic, Tino Quamina and Mathaeus Roberts.

“We thank all the above players for their contributions to the club during their time with us. You will always be part of the Arsenal Family and we wish you all the best of health, happiness and success in your futures.” the Arsenal website briefly announced.

Of these, the most unfortunate is the case of Maitland-Niles. This midfielder grew up from the youth academy of the team, had a good starting point and reached 132 times for Arsenal. He also made 5 appearances for England. However, the 25-year-old is no longer in the plans of coach Mikel Arteta.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal can push away more players in the summer of 2023. Nicolas Pepe is highly likely to leave the Emirates, followed by 9 other names such as Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares, Alex Runarsson, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding and Folarin Balogun.

In the summer of 2019, Arsenal spent up to £ 72 million to get Pepe’s signature. However, he was a big disappointment. With Xhaka, the Swiss international wants to join Bayer Leverkusen. However, the deal was only approved in case Arsenal successfully recruited Declan Rice.

Arsenal had a sublime season and left regret when they could not win the Premier League title. They occupied the top of the Premier League table for 248 days (93% of the season) but then lost the throne to Man City. However, the “Gunners” are said to exceed the target with 2nd place and a place in the Champions League.
