Preparations for France’s doubleheader in this week’s Euro 2024 qualifiers have certainly been dominated by headlines regarding Kylian Mbappé’s decision not to renew with Paris Saint-Germain next summer, potentially likely to lead to a move in the next few months.
During today’s press conference at Clairefontaine, midfielder Eduardo Camavinga could not avoid the question of the prospect of playing alongside his national team captain at club level. The 20-year-old chose not to respond to the reports directly, but admitted that he would not object to having Mbappé in the Spanish capital:
“You will see that being said. I have nothing to say. I would be very happy if he went to Real Madrid.”
Camavinga went on to explain that the topic was talked about within the team and that there was some teasing as well – but overall, he didn’t feel Mbappé was particularly affected by the news.
Les Bleus traveled to Portugal to meet Gibraltar on Friday night, before taking on Greece at the Stade de France three days later. They topped the table after wins over the Netherlands and Ireland in March.
