On the morning of June 7, Al Ittihad was pleased to announce that it had successfully recruited striker Karim Benzema on a free transfer.
Benzema has Al Ittihad premiere
Al Ittihad briefly announced on the homepage the successful recruitment of the French striker: “Welcome Benzema to Al Ittihad.”
It is known that the striker born in 1987 joined the defending champion Saudi Pro League with a 2-year contract with an option to extend for another year. Here, the 2022 Golden Ball receives an income of up to 200 million euros per season including salary, bonus and image copyright.
Benzema could not hide his joy when he moved to a new team. He shared:
“Nice to meet you. Saudi Pro League is an attractive tournament, gathering many good players. The appearance of Cristiano Ronaldo here shows that Saudi Arabian football is getting better and better.
I’m here to win, just like what I aim for when I play in Europe. It’s a pleasure to experience at such an exciting tournament.”
Before that, it seemed that Benzema would continue to extend his contract and retire at Real Madrid. However, a generous offer from Al Ittihad made the 37-year-old striker change his mind and decide to move to Saudi Arabia.
