In an exchange quoted by TBR Football, former player Kevin Campbell called on Arsenal to recruit the compatriot midfielder.
In the opinion of Kevin Campbell, Arsenal should proceed with the acquisition of James Maddison in the summer transfer window. Campbell insists Maddison is a player of the same quality as Martin Odegaard and even more dynamic than the midfielder.
The former England player shared:
“I like Maddison, I think Maddison is a really good player. Can he fit into our squad? Of course.”
“We already have Odegaard, but in a sense, Maddison is a different type of player than Odegaard. They have some similar characteristics, they can hit a decisive pass. But I think James Maddison is a bit more dynamic, he’s more willing to go into the box than Odegaard.”
Maddison is compared to Odegaard.
With Leicester City officially relegated, almost certainly, although Arsenal did not offer to recruit, Maddison will still have a new destination in the summer transfer window. The contract between Maddison and Leicester has only 1 year remaining, which means they will not be able to demand a high fee for this star.
Recently, British media reported that Maddison is worth about 40 million pounds.
Despite the fɑct that the Foxes have just had a bad season, the British star personally still shows an impressive performance. After 30 appearances in the Premier League, he contributed 10 goals and 9 assists.
Maddison still shows impressive form despite Leicester City being relegated
However, according to journalist Paul Brown, this is an inappropriate deal. Sharing on Give Me Sport, he said:
“I feel that although Maddison is an excellent player, I don’t really see his role if he joins Arsenal. I can’t understand how he can play with Martin Odegaard in one game. And to be honest, [Emile] Smith Rowe is really a natural 10 too, so you’re going to have three players with very similar characteristics who I don’t think can play together.
“So it doesn’t seem easy for Maddison to fit into Arsenal. And I think there will be other clubs interested in him.”
