After a relatively successful 2022/23 season with the La Liga championship, Barca is looking to purify the squad to aim for higher ambitions next season. In addition to the departure of the gods like Sergio Busquets or Jordi Alba, the Catalan team also wants to bring back their legendary Nou Camp, Lionel Messi.
In order to free up the salary fund and make room for the Argentine superstar when Barca’s forward line was quite cramped, Jorge Mendes is said to have promised the Catalan team that he would convince Ansu Fati to move to another team. According to Sport, Ansu Fati was well aware that Barca wanted to sell him this summer. If forced to leave, the 21-year-old striker just wants to move to a big club in England and have the opportunity to participate in the Champions League.
However, this wish Fati is currently blocked by two biggest obstacles. There are two major obstacles preventing a deal. Firstly, no one was willing to pay the €60 million fee Barcelona wanted for Fati. And second, Fati is still leaning more toward the desire to stay in Barcelona than to leave.
This 21-year-old striker is said to be ready to compete fairly with other players for a main kick position on Barca’s attack. Therefore, Fati turned down the invitation to play for the Wolves, despite his agent Jorge Mendes trying to convince him.
In addition to Fati, Barca is said to be willing to push another striker, Raphinha, to make room for Messi. Despite having just joined the Blaugrana last summer, his performances there have not been particularly impressive. The sale of Raphinha can be considered a prerequisite to bringing Messi back because the Brazilian striker’s large transfer fee will be used to pay the salary of the Argentine superstar.
