LeBron James continues to irritate Charles Barkley.
James, 38, told reporters he was thinking about retiring after his Los Angeles Lakers were swept in the Western Conference Finals.
The following day, Barkley expressed his annoyance about the conversation being on James rather than the Denver Nuggets’ strong performance.
The NBA Hall of Famer’s opinions remain unchanged days later.
Barkley declared he was “disappointed in LeBron” for dictating the narrative on “The Pat McAfee Show,” adding that this made him feel bad.
“I felt let down by LeBron. He had to be aware that it would be discussed frequently on television by these idiots. The other day as I was watching television, I felt so frustrated. LeBron’s retirement was the focus of the first two pieces, not how well the Denver Nuggets performed. How outstanding [Nikola Jokic] is,” he exclaimed.
And absolutely not, LeBron won’t be retiring.
James mentioned the potential of retiring before the 2023–24 season after the Game 4 defeat.
James replied, “We’ll see what happens moving ahead. “I’m not sure. I’m not sure. To be honest, I have a lot on my mind. I have a lot to consider specifically for myself moving forward with the game of basketball.
“I suppose I’ll think back on my career after I’m finished, but I dunno. I don’t enjoy the fact that I didn’t play as many games as I would have liked due to injury, but my sole worry is being accessible to my teammates. Being accessible to my teammates is what I am concerned with.
James will enter his 21st season of play if he does not stop.
